‘Spayghetti and No-Balls’ on Feb. 27 benefits spay and neuter nonprofit
Residents with a soft spot for furry friends are invited to a spaghetti dinner fundraiser hosted by Spay It Forward Y’all on Feb. 27 at Hidden Falls Bistro and Bar, 220 Meadowlakes Drive in Meadowlakes. Tickets are $40 and must be purchased in advance.
The “Spayghetti and No-Balls” dinner will be a fun-spirited event benefiting the organization’s mission of decreasing the number of stray animals.
“There’s so many strays,” said Sid Holden, founder of Spay It Forward Y’all. “To spay or neuter one dog keeps the litter population down, which helps because Texas is so overpopulated with strays.”
Also, fixing your pet decreases the risk of potential health problems, including cancer.
“You’re saving the life of your dog by spaying or neutering them,” Holden said.
The nonprofit fosters and rescues pets from the Highland Lakes as well as the state’s southern border.
“There’s dogs running around everywhere in Texas,” Holden said. “We work with various (shelters) to try and get all the dogs to nice, improved homes.”
The spaghetti dinner will include salad, french bread, and dessert as well as vegetarian options. Doors open at 6 p.m. Cocktails will be served until 6:30 p.m. The dinner will be accompanied by tunes from the John Arthur Martinez Band starting at 7:30 p.m. until the event concludes at 9 p.m.
“All the proceeds will go toward vaccinating, spaying, and neutering more dogs,” Holden said. “It will also cover basic care for our fosters.”
