Join the Friends of Inks Lake State Park group for its annual park cleanup on Monday, Feb. 20. Volunteers will tidy the Inks Lake shoreline and trails and pick up trash throughout the park from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
The park is located at 3630 Park Road 4 West in Burnet. Everyone is welcome.
“This is one of our natural resources,” Friends of Inks Lake President Lori Greco told DailyTrib.com. “It’s a green space that we want to keep clean for families to use. We want it to be as natural as possible, and we want people to enjoy the outdoors.”
Work will be divided among teams assigned to different projects, including cleaning the lake by canoe, trimming vegetation on hiking trails, picking up trash, and assembling fire starters. No experience is needed. Friends group members will provide guidance and find tasks for those of varying physical abilities.
Greco suggested bringing gardening shears, limb loppers, gloves, sun and bug protection, water, and hiking shoes. She also noted that volunteers should be prepared to get dirty.
Lunch and snacks will be provided. Volunteers are welcome to stay as long or as little as they want.
The Friends of Inks Lake State Park is a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the betterment of the park and its staff, providing community engagement for visitors, and conserving the natural beauty of the park.
