WeatherMake sure to have your raincoat and umbrella handy this afternoon and especially Wednesday throughout the day.

The National Weather Service has forecast a 60 percent chance of showers with thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, for the Highland Lakes with highs in the high 70s and lows in the mid-60s. Rain chances increase to 100 percent on Wednesday with the possibility of severe thunderstorms.

The Highland Lakes area can expect 2-3 inches of rain Wednesday with highs in the low 70s and lows in the high 50s. The wet weather should hang around through Wednesday night before skies begin to clear. On Thursday, rain chances drop to 20 percent with mostly clear skies and highs in the mid-70s that afternoon.

The good news is a clear and sunny weekend with temperatures in the 80s.
