School, city candidate filing deadline is Feb. 16

MARBLE FALLS — The filing deadline to run for a seat on a city council or school board is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16.

Early voting is April 23 -May 1. The election is May 5.

As of Feb. 15, several city secretaries have submitted city council candidates:

• In Marble Falls — Incumbent Craig Magerkurth has filed for Place 1, incumbent Richard Westerman has filed for Place 5, and Dee Haddock has filed for Place 3. So far, no one has filed to run for the unexpired Place 4 seat.

• In Meadowlakes — Incumbent Mike Barry has filed for the city council Place 1 seat, and incumbent Jerry Drummond has filed for Place 3. James Woods has filed to run for mayor. Mayor Mary Ann Raesener has reached her term limit.

 • In Granite Shoals — Incumbent Shirley King is running for Place 2 along with challenger Bruce A. Jones. Terry Scott has submitted paperwork to run for Place 4, currently held by Tom Dillard. Dillard has reached his term limits and cannot run this year. Place 6 Incumbent Mark Morren announced he will not seek re-election. Will Skinner has applied to run for Place 6.

Write-in candidate declarations must be filed by 5 p.m. Feb. 20.
