Marvin Glen Brown, 52, of Buchanan Dam passed away Jan. 10, 2018

Glen was born Aug. 10, 1966, in Houston. He graduated from North Shore Senior High School.
Glen began playing music at the age of 12. He was a gifted, self-taught musician, playing five different instruments: lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, and banjo. He started playing in clubs and at private parties at the age of 15. Over his career, he played at more than 250 nightclubs, restaurants, hotels, and casinos.
Glen’s accomplishments included winning an Elvis impersonator contest in 1987 by Houston’s KRBE 104 FM; finishing first in the Star Mania contest In 1997 over 1,200 other contestants; being signed to Lasting Treasures Publishing Co. in Nashville as a songwriter; and building his own recording studio in Houston, where he recorded six of his own CDs.
He performed at many benefits for those in need and also at nursing homes and the VFW.
In addition to his musical talent, Glen was a very talented artist. He loved painting landscapes and still life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Marvin Brown of Houston. He moved from Houston in 2011 after the death of his mother.
Glen is survived by his cousins, Betty Mott, Kevin and Sabra Mott, Dwayne and Sherelle Briggs, Thomas and Sandra Mott, and Melissa Mott and their families, all of Marble Falls, Chris and Michelle Moore and Toni Mott and their families, all of Centennial, Colorado, Justin and Ashley Pfitzner and their family of Mont Belvieu, Katie Glass Ruthven, Marty and Ellen Glass, Chris and Jennifer Arnold, and Travis and Heidi Glass and their families, all of Austin; and many friends and acquaintances.
We know Glen would want to thank all of his friends who helped him throughout his life, especially Tim and Gina Chitin and Curtis Kasper, all of Buchanan Dam.
A memorial and spreading of Glen’s ashes will be in the spring.
