Penny LaVana Thurman, 61, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away March 28, 2017. She was born to Elvie and Linnie Gene (Lee) Tubbs on April 25, 1955, in San Saba, Texas.

Ms. Thurman was a caretaker in the medical field. She enjoyed showing dogs, reading her Bible, and spending time with her loving family.

She is survived by her son, James Wilson and wife Jennifer of Kingsland; daughters, Robin Hill and boyfriend Patrick Hood of Brady and Jaime Galvan and husband Chris of Granite Shoals; grandchildren, David Tubbs, Morgan Banda, Mindy Rainwater, LaSabra Williams, Shady Hill, Samantha Wilson, Cameron Wilson, James McNew, Summer Bourland, Brock Phillips Jr., and Jordan Galvan; sisters Debbie Bristow, Donna Watson and Lanita Harmes; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog, Chewbacca.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Linda Forehand and Paula Covanes.

A memorial service is 5 p.m. March 31 at Church of the Hills in Lometa.
