James B. McManus, 62, died Sept. 5, 2016
James B. “Jimmy” McManus was called to heaven’s gate at 62 years of age on Sept. 5, 2016, preceded by his parents, William F. and Hetty Jane (Swisher) McManus. He was born Aug. 21, 1954.
Jimmy is survived by his sisters, Peggy and Mary Jane; uncle and aunt David and Jackie Swisher; aunt Rosa Maria Swisher; and all of their children and grandchildren.
Jim was born in Laredo, and after graduating from Holding Institute, he joined the Navy during which he received a degree in avionics.
Jimmy was an accomplished aviation mechanic, and through further education, became a certified Federal Aviation Administration inspector and eventually opened McManus Air — a full-service aviation facility. He had many clients, family members, and friends who will truly miss his kind smile and quick humor.
James’ resting place will be Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio and an interment ceremony is 1 p.m. Sept. 30.
