LLANO — The Llano High School football team lost to Brady 21-7 in its home opener Sept. 9.

Head coach Craig Slaughter said the Yellow Jackets (1-2) were frustrated by the result.

“We really lost it in the first half,” he said. “We had opportunities we never capitalized on. We never cashed in on when we had our chances. We left too many plays on the field.”

Llano got the scoring started thanks to a blocked punt by Josh Solis that was recovered in the end zone for a 2-0 lead. Later, the Jackets sacked the Brady quarterback in the end zone for a safety that resulted in a 4-0 lead in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs (2-1) scored a touchdown in the second quarter, but Llano answered with a 31-yard field goal by Solis to knot the game at 7-7 at the half.

Brady scored to take a 14-7 lead and used a turnover on the Llano 10-yard line to add to its final points of the contest.

“The plays you leave on the field are so frustrating,” Slaughter said. “We’re dropping passes at the wrong time. The kids are frustrated, I’m frustrated. We’ll keep showing up and competing. We just want the reward for it.

The Jackets welcome Lago Vista (2-1) at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at Llano Stadium, 400 Texas 71 East.

“We’re trying to make sure we stop this slide,” the coach said. “We’re going to show up and keep working and get better.”
