FREDERICKSBURG — The Burnet Bulldogs exploded for 27 unanswered points against the Fredericksburg Billies on their way to a 47-21 victory Sept. 9. The Bulldogs improve to a 3-0 record with the victory.

Burnet’s Koby Edwards played a big role in just about every touchdown the Bulldogs scored on the night. He completed 20 of 23 attempts for just over 300 yards and four touchdown passes. He added two touchdown runs himself as well.

In fact, Edwards scored the first two Burnet touchdowns. Both were 1-yard scampers, but they put Burnet up 14-0. And though the Billies showed some spark late in the second quarter, the Bulldogs lead never seemed threatened.

Edwards connected with Tyler Ford with 10:09 left in the first half for a 20-0 lead. Then the Bulldogs built a 27-0 lead when Edwards hit Sterling Galban for a touchdown completion with 6:36 left in the first half.

But then, Fredericksburg began mounting what looked like a possible comeback.

Fredericksburg’s Will Flannery hit receiver Jonny Cleland for a 76-yard touchdown. A few minutes later, the Billies scored another touchdown but failed on the two-point conversion.

Burnet held a 27-15 lead heading into the half, but the Billies appeared to have grabbed the momentum.

In the second half, however, Burnet recaptured the momentum and began opening their lead over the Billies.

Tyler Ford got the Bulldogs back on the scoreboard with a 10-yard run with 6:15 left in the third quarter for a 34-15 lead. Then, Edwards found Drew Kiser for an 18-yard touchdown, pushing the Burnet lead to 41-15.

Kiser hauled in two touchdowns on the night and amassed 113 receiving yards.

Burnet added one more touchdown before Fredericksburg added one of their own.

Burnet hosts Austin Crockett on Friday, Sept. 16, at Bulldog Field. The homecoming game starts at 7:30 p.m. Listen to the contest on KMPN 95.9 FM powered by KBEY or at starting at 7 p.m.
