87-year-old man dies in head-on collision near Horseshoe Bay

HORSESHOE BAY — An elderly Horseshoe Bay man died July 10 after a head-on collision on Texas 71, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The accident happened just after 3 p.m. about six miles east of Horseshoe Bay.
Roland Edwin Greaves, 87, a passenger in a 2005 Suzuki four-door vehicle, was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:18 p.m. by Llano County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace BeBe Piatt.
The report stated that a 2011 Lincoln SUV, driven by 35-year-old Jason Wayne McCombs of Buchanan Dam, was traveling east on Texas 71 when, “for unknown reasons, (the vehicle) crossed into the westbound lane.”
The SUV collided with the westbound Suzuki, driven by 56-year-old Perry W. Greaves of Brooklyn, New York.
Perry Greaves was taken to University Medical Center Breckenridge in Austin with critical injuries, according to the report.
McCombs was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with serious injuries.
The cause is under investigation by the DPS.
