Investigators seek help in cracking rash of car burglaries

FROM STAFF REPORTS

BURNET — The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office and the Heart of Texas Auto Theft Task Force is asking the public for assistance in identifying a suspect who broke into three vehicles in a Lake Buchanan community.

On June 10, BCSO investigators learned of a man breaking into three vehicles in the Council Creek area. The suspect made off with a Charter Arms .38 Special five-shot revolver, a TomTom GPS device and a Magellan GPS device.

The burglaries occurred at about 4:20 a.m. that same day. Security footage revealed the suspect to be a white male, approximately 20 years old, wearing a baseball cap, short-sleeve shirt, cargo shorts and tennis shoes. Officials say the man was wearing a bandana over his face.

The video also showed the suspect as having numerous tattoos: a large one on his left arm, one on his left hand, a large tattoo on his right calf and possibly another one on his left calf.

Council Creek is located in western Burnet County on the shores of Lake Buchanan.

Anyone who has information about the suspect or the burglaries can contact the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office at (512) 756-8080 or the Hill Country Area Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-8477. Tips can also be made at hillcountryareacrimestoppers.com.
