Marie A. Tompkins, 82, of Buchanan Dam died April 10, 2016

Marie A. Tompkins, 82, of Buchanan Dam, Texas, passed away April 10, 2016. She was born to Archie and Inez (Thomas) Phillips on March 20, 1934, in Boomville, Arkansas.

Mrs. Tompkins was a caregiver for most of her life and thrived on helping others. She was a member of the Eagles and the Singles. She enjoyed playing Bunco, shuffleboard, Farkle, and most other games.

She is survived by her mother, Inez Richardson of Tulia; daughters, Karen Chambers and husband C.W. of Keene and Janet Morris and husband Jimmy of China Springs; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and brother, Bobby.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. April 30 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008, with the Rev. Dick West officiating.
