Perry Ray Roemer of Llano passed away unexpectedly April 3, 2016, at the age of 44. Perry was born on July 26, 1971, to Pamela Roemer and Larry Reese. Pamela later married Johnny Hawkins, and the bond between him and Perry was undeniable.

Perry was a man of many trades, but concrete work was his calling and he could finish concrete like no other. Perry spent many years working on the pipeline and was also an excellent mechanic and could take just about anything apart, repair it and put it back together.

Most of all, Perry loved his kids, and they were his pride and joy. He enjoyed spending time with them doing activities like fishing and loved nothing more than cutting up and wrestling with them. He enjoyed watching them in all their activities and was always a proud dad in the stands. Perry was an outspoken rough-and-tough tumbleweed and took great pleasure in passing that on to his kids.

His hobbies included barbecue cook-offs, hunting, fishing and dancing. Perry was a simple man and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Hanging out with friends on the bed of a pick-up truck or sitting around the backyard telling stories was where he found the most pleasure.

Perry will be remembered most for his sense of humor. Perry was funny! If you were in his presence, you were laughing! He could tell a story and have the room in stitches with his dramatic expressions and storytelling ability that only he had! The man never met a stranger and considered everyone a friend.

Perry was proud to be on the Lucky L Cookers barbecue cook-off team. He was a member of the Llano Christmas Lighting Committee and was on the Llano Youth Soccer Building Committee. Perry volunteered many hours during the construction of the Llano Youth Soccer complex, where he took the lead on all the concrete work and also volunteered many hours during the original construction of the Moore Baseball Complex. His heart was of gold, and he was always there when anyone needed his help. He never turned anyone away who was in need; if he had something you needed, you can bet he would give it to you in the blink of an eye.

Perry is survived by two sons, Eric Roemer of Smithville and Hunter Roemer of Llano; daughter, Jayla Roemer of Llano; mother, Pamela Roemer of Waco; brothers, Johnny Hawkins Jr. and David Hawkins of San Angelo, Tim Watson of Llano and Curtis Watson of Waco; girlfriend, Christina Asfeld and her daughter, Seriah Bartram, of Granite Shoals; grandparents Howard and Lynn Kilgore of Austin; nephews Steton Watson of Llano, Trey Watson of Llano, Coy Reese of San Saba and Kaleb Reese of Llano; nieces Kaylee Watson of Killeen, Brittney Reese of Austin, Ashlie Watson of Waco and Johnna Reese of Llano; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and a host of other friends and family.

Preceding him in death was his father, Larry Reese; his dad, Johnny Hawkins; brother Jason Reese; and grandparents Robert and Marzilla Hawkins.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. April 10 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300, with Sam Garza officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Perry Roemer Memorial Fund at Llano National Bank.
