Roy Lee Williams, 87, of Kingsland died Jan. 10, 2016
Roy Lee Williams, 87, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away Jan. 10, 2016. He was born to Shirley Albert and Pansy Ellen (Drace) Williams in Llano County, Texas, on Jan. 15, 1928.
Roy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during World War II.
He was in the freight business and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, the Austin Power Squadron, and the Experimental Aircraft Association.
In his spare time, he enjoyed flying. He soloed to get his license when he was 16 years old and flew aircraft for more than sixty years.
He is survived by son, Frank Hinds and lifelong companion Karan Ackerman of Horseshoe Bay’ grandsons, Robert Hinds and wife Susan of Bastrop and David Hinds and wife Dena of Round Rock; great-granddaughter, Hayden Hinds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clara; brothers Shirley Drace Williams and Ora Francis Williams; and sisters Pansy Borders and Bernis Lynn.
A graveside service is 1 p.m. Jan. 14 at Kingsland Cemetery in Kingsland with the Rev. Ron Langley officiating. Military honors will be by the Highland Lakes Honor Guard.
