John Daniel Eaton III
John Daniel Eaton III, 77, formerly of Llano, died Dec. 24, 2015. Dan was born to John and Ruth Lee Eaton in San Angelo, Texas on March 21, 1938. He spent his early years in Sonora on Eaton Hill. After high school graduation, he went into the U.S. Army Reserve. From there, Dan went to Abilene Christian College for pre-dental studies. He then attended the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston.
Upon graduation from dental school, Dan married Dianne Sturrock Eaton on Aug. 16, 1964. His dental career began the next month in the U.S. Army. During his 20 years in the Army, three children blessed their lives: Terissa Lee, Alicia Annette and Thomas Daniel.
Dan’s military dental career included three tours at Fort Hood, one of which he served as director of the General Dentistry Residency. He served overseas in Vietnam and Germany and was rewarded for exceptional work with various medals, including the Bronze Star.
His strong Christian principles endeared him to all. Dan served as deacon of the Church of Christ in many different congregations.
After retirement from the Army in 1984, the family settled in San Angelo for 15 years; Dan spent 10 of these in private practice in association with Dr. Robert Mankin. Then in August 1999, Dan and Dianne moved to Llano, where they also resided for 15 years. After Dan had a hemorrhagic stroke, he and Dianne moved to Cedar Park.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ruth Lee and John, and daughter Alicia Eaton Brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne; daughter Terissa; son, Tom and wife Shelly; son-in-law Steve; and grandchildren, Quinn and Jesse Brothers, Chase Eaton, and Taylor and Logan Hammond.
