Clara Kate Young, 98, of Lampasas and Burnet died Dec. 23, 2015

Clara Kate Young, 98, of Lampasas and Burnet, Texas, passed away Dec. 23, 2015. She was born in Burnet to Will and Minnie (Ferguson) Pogue on Aug. 17, 1917.

She went to nursing school and served in that career from 1972 to 1985. She was a member of Vanderveer Church of Christ and the Burnet Historical Society.

Kate was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Denzil Ralph Young.

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Field of Lake Victor and Sondra K. Gilmore of Mesquite; son, Denzil R. “Jack” Young of Lake Charles, Louisiana; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marie Kroger and Winnie Frazier, both of Burnet.
