Cecil Joe “Buddy” Salyer, 84, died at Oaks Nursing Center in Burnet on Dec. 12, 2015. Buddy had suffered from Parkinson’s disease for several years.

Born Jan. 31, 1931, in Brown County, Texas, Buddy married the former Dorothy Jo Coleman in 1951.  Buddy was a Korean War-era veteran and worked as an electrician for the University of Texas for 29 years. Buddy and Dottie lived in Austin until his retirement, when they moved to Buchanan Dam.   

In addition to Dottie, survivors include daughters Brenda Jean Sheridan and husband Mike of San Antonio and Jo Lynn Romans and husband Bill of Austin; brother Terry Salyer and wife Rita of Elgin; grandchildren, Carrie Bolin, Angie D’Ambrosio, Jason Sheridan, Lee Romans and Cole Romans; and great-grandchildren, Austin Bolin, Bridgette Bolin, Parker D’Ambrosio, David Romans and Nicholas Romans.   

Buddy was preceded in death by daughter Susan Salyer Schmidt.

A service is 10 a.m. Dec. 19 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 388-6767. A reception will be held at the Salyer household after the service. A private burial will be held.
