Elizabeth Adeline Carothers, 101, formerly of Sunrise Beach, died Nov. 28, 2015

Elizabeth Adeline Carothers, 101, passed away in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 28, 2015. Elizabeth “Liz” was born Aug. 13, 1914, in Houston.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William F. Carothers. Together, they made their retirement home for more than 30 years in Sunrise Beach on Lake LBJ, where she was active in Ladies Auxiliary and bridge and SkipBo clubs.

Liz loved the movies, dancing, flower arranging, scrapbooking and watching tennis on television. With a television on in every room in the house, she never missed a beauty pageant, an awards show or a Victoria Secret fashion show, loving the fancy dresses and costumes. Liz could outshop anyone, lasting much longer than her much younger companions. Her latter years were spent as a resident at The Solana Vintage Park in Houston, where she celebrated her 100th and 101st birthdays.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, Jasper and Marie Barron; sister Gladys Buchanan (Herbert); brother Jesse Barron (Doris); grandsons Douglas Self and Brett Greenwood; niece Sharon Barron; and a special cousin, Miriam Johnson.

She is survived by her three daughters, Ann Greenwood of Odessa, Beverly Holland (Bill) of Georgetown and Betty Self of Houston. Also surviving their grandmother are Rusty Greenwood, Kellye Wilson, Greg Holland (Lisa), Melissa Glouchkova (Vlad) and Stephanie Zinda (Mike); great-grandchildren, Justin Smith, Reagan Brown (Archie), Brittany VanOver (Wayne), Dylan Holland, Trevor Holland, Misha Glouchkova, Maia Glouchkova and Mikayla Zinda; and great-great-grandchildren, Espn Smith, Tripp Brown and Warren Brown. Nephews surviving their Aunt Libby are Ray Buchanan, Gary Barron and Wayne Barron.

Services are 2 p.m. Dec. 5, at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. before the service.

In lieu of flowers, you may honor Elizabeth with a contribution to a cause that touches your heart.
