Bill Wallen, 70, of Tow died Nov. 2, 2015
Bill Wallen, 70, of Tow, Texas, passed away Nov. 2, 2015, at his home. He was born to Paul E. and Willa M. (King) Wallen on Oct. 25, 1945, in Austin.
Bill worked for IBM as a process engineer for 27 years. His hobby and favorite pastime was reading. Bill was always a “fixer” of all things mechanical. Sometimes, he would put down his book and mow the lawn or change a light bulb. But mostly, he thought retirement was for reading those books he missed during the work years. He briefly thought he should be more fond of fishing after moving to the Lake Buchanan community of Tow — then realized that was more work than just viewing the water from the front porch.
Mr. Wallen is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Michael Wallen and wife Shannon of Austin and Ken Wallen of Austin; and brother, Paul Wallen and wife Barbara of Boerne. He is also survived by great in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill also loved his pet cat; Bill and Casper took daily walks together through the gardens “patrolling the perimeter.”
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life is 2 p.m. Nov. 8 at the family home.
Memorials may be given to the Friends of the Lakeshore Library, 7346 RR 261, Buchanan Dam, TX 78609.
