‘Pink Out’ for breast cancer research at Burnet game Oct. 30
BURNET — Burnet school officials are encouraging people to wear pink for the Oct. 30 Burnet Bulldogs football game against Waco La Vega.
It’s not because they’re giving up on Kelly Green. They’re just standing up against breast cancer.
And if you don’t have anything pink to wear, the Burnet High School Highlandettes have just what you need. They are selling short-sleeve and long-sleeve T-shirts for the game as a fundraiser.
Last year, the community helped the Highlandettes raise $5,300 through T-shirt sales to donate to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research. This year, let’s see if Burnet can break that mark.
The T-shirts are available in sizes youth-small through youth-large and adult-small through adult-5XL. They are $15 for short-sleeve and $20 for long-sleeve. There is a $3 up-charge added to shirts 3XL and larger.
People also have two designs from which to choose.
One has a black background with Bulldogs spelled out in green with a white moon behind it and “Scare out cancer” below. A pink ribbon is wrapped around a black bat flying in front of the moon.
The second has a pink background with a green and gray bowtie wrapped in a pink ribbon. The words “The ties that bind us, year after year, Burnet Bulldogs, fighting for a cure” are below the bowtie.
There’s a similar, smaller bowtie on the front, left chest of the shirt.
The T-shirts are available at Burnet High School, 1000 The Green Mile, and XLR8, 1002 N. Water St. (U.S. 281) in Burnet.
Get your T-shirt or other pink items and remember to “Pink Out” the stands on Oct. 30 at Bulldog Field. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
