Richard C. Smith, 64, of Llano, Texas, died Oct. 15, 2015. He was born Jan. 15, 1951, in San Saba, Texas, to Alfred and Rutha (Rankin) Smith.
Richard served during Vietnam with the U.S. Air Force. He married Mary Jene Randolph on Aug. 4, 1973, in Nashville, Tennessee, and was a resident of Llano since 1980.
Richard had worked for the M.J. Wootan family for many years and enjoyed cooking at Cooper’s BBQ in Llano for years.
He is survived by his wife, Jene Smith of Llano; two sons, Bradley Smith and wife Janelle of Buchanan Dam and Brian Smith of Llano; two sisters, Patsy Dawson and husband Ralph of Austin and Peggy Horton of Llano; three grandchildren, Lane, Weston and Jordan; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ann Turner and brothers Jim and John Smith.
Visitation was Oct. 19 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. A funeral service was Oct. 20 at First Baptist Church in Llano with the Rev. Rick Cundieff officiating. A graveside service followed at Harmony Ridge Cemetery in San Saba County.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Horton, Kevin Horton, Jim Turner, Brad Hoy, Jared Motl, Gary Smith and Mike Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Wootan, Kenny Oestreich, Bo Phillips, Mario Vasquez and Sam Christopher.
Those desiring to do so may make memorial contributions to First Baptist Church in Llano.
