Manuel Esquivel, 78, died Oct. 5, 2015
Manuel Esquivel entered the Kingdom of Heaven on October 5, 2015, where he joined his beloved wife, Laura, at the age of 78. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, October 24, 2015, at St. John the Evangelist Parish Church, 105 Hwy. 1431 East in Marble Falls, Texas. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Distinctive Life Cremations and Funerals of Austin.
Manuel was born Thursday, April 1, 1937, in Guadalupe County to Francisco and Felicitas (Sanchez) Esquivel. He grew up in Hays County near San Marcos, Texas, on the 5,000-acre Scrutchin Ranch, where he worked alongside his dad tending to 400 head of cattle. He later entered the Navy Reserves at Great Lakes, Illinois, where he attended boot camp.
He would later meet his wife, Laura Delatorre, in Tijuana, Mexico.They were married June 20, 1959. They then resided in New Braunfels, Texas, where he started his career with the LCRA at the Comal Power Plant in December 1960. Prior to the closing of the Comal Power plant, he transferred to the Thomas C. Ferguson Generating Station until his retirement in December 31, 1994. Additionally, he served his country honorably in the US Navy Reserves and the Army National Guard.
Manuel was preceded in death by his parents and his spouse, Laura.
Manuel is survived by his four children, Olivia Esquivel, Manuel Esquivel and wife Ana, Larry Esquivel and wife Lesley, and Laura Esquivel Smith and husband Roger; nine grandchildren, Meredith and husband Robert, Jordan and wife Gina, David, John Michael, Carrianna, Dayton, Cassidy, Evan and Clarissa; three great-grandchildren, Lenae, TaylorAnn and Kaleb; two sisters, Baudelia Arredondo and Bernice Gonzales and husband Richard; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
The family would like to whole-heartedly thank all beloved family members and friends for the outpouring of love and emotional support through their visits, phone calls, flowers and gifts. The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff of Seton Williamson County, Dr. Smedley and wound care nurse Donna.
The family would ask in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association.
