Terry Lee Turner of Marble Falls died June 25, 2015
Dr. Terry Lee Turner of Marble Falls, Texas, died at home June 25, 2015. He was born in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Russell and Barbara Turner.
He grew up in Decatur, Illinois, where he and his two brothers achieved Eagle Scout status simultaneously. He went on to graduate from high school in Decatur in 1963 and then attended Millikin University, where he participated in the GE College Bowl. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis in 1974. After his residency, he did a fellowship in radiation oncology at Washington University School of Medicine, also in St. Louis.
After practicing emergency medicine for several years, he moved to the Houston area, where he began an internal medicine practice and was a founding member of the Kingwood Plaza Hospital. He served in many capacities in the local medical community including chief of staff of Kingwood Plaza in 1993. In 1996, he began a full-time practice with Scott & White at the Horseshoe Bay clinic. He was also affiliated with the Hoerster clinic but came back full circle to Scott & White when those two practices merged. He was honored to have been named “People’s Choice” as best physician twice. An avid reader and a lifelong learner, he ultimately became board certified in bariatric medicine.
Dr. Turner is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda Meredith, and two brothers, Dr. Larry (Jane) Turner and Lanny (Renee) Turner. He was extremely proud of his children, Sydney (Brian) Pace, Shelby (Mark) Martin and Stevyn (Autumn) Turner. His grandchildren are Hailey Lynn Turner and Brandon, Joey and Kaitlyn Pace. He is also survived by his in-laws, Jim and Lucille Meredith; brother-in-law, Ron (Jean) Meredith; uncle Richard (Dot) Jones; and many nieces and nephews and was loved by his extended family. Terry was also an animal lover who rescued and raised many fur kids. He is particularly mourned by his special cat, A.C. (Another Cat).
In addition to his family, pets and patients, he had a passion (no, make that obsession) for golf.
A longtime resident of Marble Falls, he was deeply respected by his friends and neighbors and will be missed very much.
As per Dr. Turner’s request, there will be no formal visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a cause that touches your heart.
Arrangements by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. Email whhfuneral1@verizon.net with condolences.

Linda, I am so sorry for your loss of such a great husband. Terry was a great friend to me, my family and many others. It is difficult to say how I feel, except maybe broken-hearted and extremely sad.
You will be in my prayers, for comfort and peace. Please contact me if I can help you in any way! Helping you would be an honor for me!
You are loved,
Carolyn Derington
