FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — School trustees have approved hiring two new principals and launched a search for a new middle school principal, according to a news release May 21 from the Marble Falls Independent School District.

Suzan Cox was chosen as the new principal at Spicewood Elementary School to begin the 2015-16 school year. She will replace Leslie Baty, who has taken a role at central administration.

Cox comes from Leander ISD, where she served for four years as an administrator at Deer Creek Elementary School.

Bethany Birdwell was promoted from assistant principal to principal at Highland Lakes Elementary in Granite Shoals. This was Birdwell’s first year at Highland Lakes as the assistant principal. She is taking over for Michael Pittard, who is retiring.

Also, Marble Falls Middle School Principal Brett Koch announced his retirement from education and plans to work in the family’s welding and supply business in Shallowater, according to the release.
