Bill Tharp, 83, of Meadowlakes passed away May 15, 2015. He was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Quincy, Illinois, to John and Mary Katherine Keyser Tharp and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and afterward worked for 27 years as an air traffic controller.

In 1977, Bill and his family moved to Marble Falls, where for eight years he owned and operated Tharp Tire and Auto.

Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in Marble Falls and the Blazing Star Lodge No. 413 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed spending time at the senior citizens center and loved being with his family and traveling.

Survivors include his children, Joseph Tharp and wife Reyna of Leander, Tim Tharp of Corpus Christi and Vicki Campbell and husband Johnny of Marble Falls; brother, Charles Tharp and wife Pat of Florida; sisters Lettie Speelman of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mary Gray of Flower Mound; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Kaycee, Geoffen, Stasnee, Damon, Chelcee, Devin, Charlee and Whitney; three great-grandchildren, Rhylee, Kingston and Ryder; close friend Jimmie English; as well as countless other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vennie; sister Helen Nance; and half-brothers, Roy Tharp and John Tharp.

Visitation for family and friends is 5-7 p.m. May 22 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. A funeral service is 11 a.m. May 23 at the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Boothe officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
