Marble Falls, Faith Academy students awarded PEC scholarships

JOHNSON CITY — Pedernales Electric Cooperative awarded 14 students — three of whom are from Marble Falls — thousands of dollars in scholarship money after the seniors penned essays on how nonprofit programs enrich lives and serve the community, according to a release from the utility.
Brandi Kuhlmann of Faith Academy of Marble Falls secured a $5,000 scholarship for her submission. Judges awarded Marble Falls High School seniors Tess Johnson and Cobey Lusinger a $2,500 scholarship each.
“As a cooperative, PEC has always made it a priority to support the communities it serves and to bring value and opportunity to the region,” said Eddie Dauterive, PEC vice president of member services and the 2015 scholarship committee president. “By helping our local students pursue their educational goals, we are investing in their future as well as the future of the Texas Hill Country.”
The top scholarship winner was William Mayhew of Wimberely HIgh School, who received $10,000.
Other recipients included: Cora Bonham of Hill Country Christian School, $5,000; Kelsey Mumford of Lago Vista High School, $5,000; Heidi Klein of Cedar Park High School, $2,500; Emily Moseley of Lago Vista High School, $2,500; Sierra Myers and James Bowie High School, both of Austin ISD, $2,500; Hannah Rumbarger of Vista Ridge High School, $2,500; Anudeeksha Satheeshkumar of Vista Ridge High School, $2,500; Grace Velasco Van De Hoef of Veritas Academy, $2,500; Nathan Vu of Cedar Park High School, $2,500; and Justin Zhang of the Liberal Arts & Science Academy of Austin ISD, $2,500.
