Ida Mae Wingren Allee of Austin passed from this life April 12, 2015. She was a first-generation American born Dec. 8, 1919, in Denison, Texas, to her native Swedish father Eric and Margaret Early Wingren.

She grew up in San Antonio across the street from her childhood sweetheart, Waymon Douglas Allee. They married in 1941 before Doug joined the Army and went to Europe to serve in World War II. He went to college on the GI Bill and became a chemist, a career that prompted several moves in Texas and to Illinois.

Mae was a devoted mother to her three children, and later in life, she launched a career in real estate. She and Doug retired in Highland Haven on Lake LBJ, where they spent some of their happiest years.

Mae loved to sew and was an accomplished cook. She was a faithful member of Highland Lakes United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her beloved Doug and daughter Diana Lynn. She is survived by son Lance and wife Pam of Marble, Colorado; daughter Sheila Kershaw and husband Tom and daughter Kathryn Stuart and husband Tom, all of Austin; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
