LBJ 100 Bicycle Tour takes riders on peaceful back roads

STONEWALL — Take a presidential tour of the Hill Country — on two wheels.

The eighth annual LBJ 100 Bicycle Tour is March 28 at the Lyndon B. Johnson Ranch, 144 Park Road 49.

The ride begins at 9 a.m. on the ranch’s airstrip with routes of 10, 30, 42, 62 and 85 miles that takes riders on quiet country roads and past historical landmarks that are part of presidential and Johnson family history. The ranch opens at 7 a.m.

According to event officials, the LBJ 100 has grown from 400 riders in 2008 to 1,600 riders last year, and attracts cyclists from across the nation and around the world. Hundreds of volunteers join forces with the National Park Service and the Friends of the LBJ National Historical Park to provide a day of safe outdoor adventure, good food, drink and unique experiences on the historic LBJ Ranch, which is part of the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park.

All proceeds support educational and recreational opportunities and historic structure preservation in the national historical park.
