BURNET — A 37-year-old Fredericksburg man died Feb. 28 after the van he was driving collided with semi-truck sliding sideways on Texas 29 just east of Burnet.

Burnet officials said Manuel Galinda-Camacho was traveling east on Texas 29 in a Chevy Astro van about 6 a.m. when a semi-truck, also heading east, began sliding and turned sideways on the highway. The van struck the trailer of the rig.

Galindo-Camacho died at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck, identified as 36-year-old David Shoot of Desoto, was not injured.

Officials believe icy road conditions might have contributed to the cause of the accident. The accident remains under investigation.

The National Weather Service is eyeing more winter weather with the possibility of frozen precipitation during the night of March 4 into the morning hours of March 5. Officials are asking people to drive carefully if conditions deteriorate during those times.
