Gladden H. “Son” Turner was born Aug. 30, 1925, in Cow Creek and passed away Feb. 23, 2015.

He is survived by his children Laura O’Grady and husband John of Carlton and Robert Frank Scarborough of Leander; grandchildren, Nicole Harissis of Midland, Jaclyn La Port of Madris, Oregon, Justin Scarborough and wife Myka of Stephenville and Shanna Arnold and husband Stephen of Midland; sisters Allene Morris and Minnie Jo Phelps; brother D.L. Turner of Bertram; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews along with many close friends across Texas.

Son was preceded in death by his wife, LaMyrle Turner; son John Scarborough; parents, J.L. Turner and Ada Collier Turner; sisters Lucille McAnally, Joyce Morris and Merle Chambers; and brothers Dick Turner and Gordon Turner.

G.H. was born in Cow Creek outside of Oatmeal and, other than when serving in the Army, lived his entire life in Cow Creek. He loved hunting and fishing up and down the creek and was well known as a rancher who loved working with his cows and animals. He used to rodeo and was a fine cowboy and passed much to his children.

Son loved taking his grandchildren on horseback with him on top of Rocky to parades for the Oatmeal Festival. He also loved taking his great-great-grandchildren on tractor rides. He will be missed.

A memorial service in memory of G.H. “Son” Turner is 2 p.m. March 1 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222, with Ronnie Brooks officiating.
