LLANO — Here’s an offer even Cupid can’t top.
A steak dinner with all the trimmings and a variety show to follow — all for $30 a person.
To benefit the Llano High School Project Graduation, the class of 2015 is holding a Valentine’s gala Feb. 14 at the high school, 2509 Texas 16 South.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by a silent auction. The variety show featuring graduating seniors starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the variety show only are $5 each.
The dinner will be served in the cafeteria with four couples to a table and graduating seniors serving.
After the meal, attendees will be given an opportunity to look at the silent auction items up for bid, then it’s on to the school auditorium for the variety show.
“I’ve been to some of the talent show practices,” said Project Graduation chairwoman Dena Kenner. “They are having the best time preparing for this gala. They’re having more fun than they should be at practicing for the talent show.”
She said some of the entertainers are serious about their performances because of their ability to sing or play an instrument; others are performing with the aim of making the audience laugh.
“There are a lot of silly acts,” she said with a laugh.
For the seniors, the gala serves as a lifelong memory, Kenner said, because of the behind-the-scenes work they’re doing together and the acts themselves.
“This will be one of those things they’ll remember in 20 years,” she said.
The gala serves as the main fundraiser for the Project Graduation party, which is May 20 at the YMCA of the Highland Lakes at Galloway-Hammond, 1601 S. Water St. (U.S. 281) in Burnet.
“This is the one that’ll enable us to make Project Graduation and graduation night special for (the graduates),” Kenner said.
Buy tickets from a Llano High School senior or their parents or at Moursund Insurance, 109 E. Main St. Call Kenner at (325) 423-0288 for more information or to make a donation.
“The community has been wonderful with different things they’ve donated (for the silent auction),” she said, adding the committee is still accepting items for the silent auction or monetary donations.
Kenner said a chili lunch fundraiser Jan. 18 raised $1,300 for Project Graduation.
“It was the prettiest day,” she said. “We were hoping for that because everything was 100 percent profit.”
