BURNET — After more than 100 years, the historic Craddock House will spend its first night away from Jackson and Boundary streets.

Faglie House Moving of Bertram moved the house two blocks on Feb. 6 to the Vanderveer Street Church of Christ parking lot on Texas 29. That move took a little more than two hours as city and private crews worked to raise cables high enough for the house to go under.

The house will move to its new permanent home on the east edge of town early Feb. 8.

Burnet Police Chief Paul Nelson said eight officers will help with the second move beginning about 6 a.m. The goal is to have the house off church property before services begin. Nelson said he hopes to keep one lane of traffic open on the four-lane Texas 29 as the house makes its way east.

Traffic lights at two intersections, Rhomberg and Hill streets, will be lifted and rotated to allow the house to pass through.
