Burnet school district accepting nominations for its Hall of Honor

BURNET — Nominations for the 2015 class of the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District’s Hall of Honor are being accepted until Jan. 9.

“We have people who’ve come before us who’ve made the school district what it is,” said Shelley Reavis, BCISD elementary curriculum director. “We’re honoring the contributions they’ve made to the district.”

The class will consist of four honorees. Each person will be selected from four categories:

  • Distinguished Burnet High School graduate
  • Distinguished Burnet High School athlete
  • Distinguished Burnet High School board member
  • Distinguished former employee

“All of those people bring some type of honor to Burnet CISD, either personally or professionally,” Reavis said. “It doesn’t matter what category you’re in; each one made a significant contribution.”

One requirement is nominated individuals must have graduated or left their post for at least 10 years.

The nomination deadline is Jan. 9. The new class will be announced at the Burnet Chamber of Commerce banquet Feb. 7.

“We actually need a few more (nominations),” Reavis said. “We have someone nominated in every category. We’d like to have more in each category.”

Go to www.burnet.txed.net and click on the BCISD Hall of Honor tab on the left to fill out a nomination form.

If a candidate was nominated in 2014 but was not elected, Reavis encourages those filling out nominations to again suggest that individual.

“There are two people who were nominated last year who have been renominated by different people,” she said. “You don’t have to put your name on the form. It can be anonymous.”
