Burnet girls basketball squad wins big; Bulldogs lose close one
AUSTIN — The Burnet High School girls basketball team defeated Austin St. Andrew’s 60-33 on Dec. 6.
The Lady Dawgs established the pace from the start, outscoring the Lady Crusaders 22-10 in the first quarter.
St. Andrew’s picked up the defense in the second period, but it wasn’t enough as Burnet outscored them 9-5 for a 31-15 halftime lead.
The Lady Dawgs’ depth was simply too much in the second half as they scored 29-18.

Boerne boys 48, Burnet 47
BURNET — Boerne High edged the Burnet High School boys basketball team 48-47 on Dec. 6.
The Bulldogs trailed 38-34 going into the fourth quarter. Both squads made two field goals, and Burnet was 9 of 12 from the foul line, while the Greyhounds were 6 of 13.
Boerne seized an 11-5 lead after the opening quarter, but the Bulldogs responded in the second period by scoring 18 points for a 23-21 advantage.
The Greyhounds needed all 17 of their points and solid defense to secure with Burnet scoring 11 points in the third.
