Get rid of your old TVs, tires and more at Llano County collection

BUCHANAN DAM — Llano County residents who have wondered what to do with that old TV set or those three tires stashed in the garage don’t have to ponder it any longer. The Llano County Recyclables Collection Event on Oct. 18 offers a way to dispose of those items and more.
The collection event will be at the Llano County Annex, 8347 RR 1431, just south of the RR 1431 and Texas 29 intersection in Buchanan Dam. The hours are 8 a.m. to noon.
Any residents from Llano County as well as Kingsland Municipal District and Kingsland Water Supply Corp. customers can utilize the recyclable collection event.
Officials ask that people bring products in their original containers and not to consolidate or mix products.
The following items are allowed:
- automobile tires (up to 24-inch rim size, but not rims)
- lead-acid batteries and rechargeable batteries
- computer components
- used motor oil
- latex paint
- antifreeze
- televisions (no wooden consoles)
- crushed/broken down cardboard
- plastic bottles
- aluminum/metal cans
Items excluded from this collection include:
- chemicals of any kind
- dioxins
- explosives
- medial and pharmaceutical items
- compressed gas cylinders (aerosols and camp stove propane)
- fluorescent bulbs
- industrial, commercial and business waste
- household products labeled “caution, warning or poison”
- petroleum-based paints, stains or varnishes.
