LLANO — A trip to the Western Trappings on The Llano could introduce you to some things you probably have never seen before such as a momma polar bear watching over her two cubs on a moose antler.

Yeah, you read that right.

The Randy Hurst antler carving is one of many works of art and Western gear you can expect to find during this unique art show and exhibit. The Wester Trappings on The Llano draws more than 70 artists and gear makers. Last year, the show and exhibition drew participating artists from three countries and 15 states as well as several local artisans and craftsmen.

The show and exhibit opens Oct. 18 at the Llano Historical Museum, 310 Bessemer Ave. The museum opens at 9 a.m. on Oct. 18 for this special event. The actual exhibit remains through Jan. 4, 2015.

The Western Trappings on The Llano features plenty of different mediums, including paintings, photography, sculpture, silver smithing and leather work.

Admission to the exhibit is free.

On Oct. 17, the museum is hosting a Meet the Artist Reception and Sale from 5-8 p.m. This is a chance to be among the first to preview — and purchase — the Western art and gear. Tickets for the reception are $24 and may be purchased at the museum or through www.westerntrappings.com. Space is limited.

There also will be a live auction Oct. 18 of Western art and gear at the American Legion Hall, 200 Legion Loop. Registration for the event starts at 10 a.m. at both the museum and the legion hall.

All the art and gear exhibited during the two-month program is for sale. And the artists gets 100 percent of the proceeds as neither the museum nor the Western Trappings on The Llano takes a commission.

Go to ww.westerntrappings.com, www.llanomuseum.org or the Western Trappings on The Llano Facebook page for more information.
