Late effort not enough in Marble Falls volleyball loss to Vista Ridge

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School volleyball team lost to Cedar Park Vista Ridge 15-25, 15-25 and 19-25 in a District 25-5A contest Oct. 14.

The Lady Mustangs took small leads in the third set with a picked-up effort. That forced the Lady Rangers to match their intensity. In the end, Vista Ridge simply found better angles for kills and took advantage of miscues for the victory.

Marble Falls head coach Julie Downs commended her players for their efforts, especially since Marble Falls dedicated the matches to Hope for a Cure, which benefits breast cancer research. Downs said fans can still buy pink T-shirts, baked items and candy for the cause.

The coach will talk about District 25-5A and her Legends select program during halftime of the Marble Falls-Leander football game Oct. 17.

Because of homecoming, the Lady Mustangs will play Leander at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at Max Copeland Gym, 2101 Mustang Drive. The subvarsity teams will follow.
