Austin Doris Hasty passed away Oct. 5, 2014. She was born Oct. 2, 1921, to Austin Moore and Lillie Ruth (Cummins) Kinser.

She was raised on a farm in Burnet County, where she met her husband, J.T. Hasty. They had two children, Lavada Ruth and James Thomas Hasty Jr.

Doris was a homemaker who loved to crochet, make things and have big family meals at all the holidays. She always wanted to talk with everybody.

Doris worked for a local drug store for several years and then at First Bank for 18 more years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Lillie Kinser; two sisters, Mona Ruth Jennings of Burnet and Loma K. Boyd of Austin; and her husband of 45 years, J.T. Hasty.

She is survived by her daughter, Lavada Lewis and husband Clifton of Burnet; son, Thomas Hasty Jr. and wife Renae of Houston; three grandchildren, Lajean Lewis of North Richland Hills, Stan Lewis and Kim of Burnet, Brittany Davies and Ceri of Richmond and Shea Hargrove and Matt of Round Rock; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Lewis and twins Austin and Emmett Davies; and two nieces and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at ALZ.org.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 7 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A funeral service is 2 p.m. Oct. 8 at Vandeveer Church of Christ in Burnet with interment to follow at Post Mountain Cemetery.
