Robert Owen Williams, 72, of Georgetown dies Oct. 1, 2014

Robert Owen Williams, son of D.F. and Helen Williams, was born May 11, 1942, in Denver, Colorado, and passed from this life Oct. 1, 2014, in Georgetown, Texas, at the age of 72.
At an early age, Bob moved with his mother, sister and brother to Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, where he attended all 12 years of school, graduating in 1960. On Easter Sunday in 1953, Bob was baptized into Christ at the Christian Church in Cheyenne Wells.
On April 20, 1962, Robert Williams and Rita Rae Balman were united in marriage at First Methodist Church in Cheyenne Wells. To this union, two children were born: Michael Troy and Robin Rae.
Bob was employed by the Harold Wales Fumigation Co. in Cheyenne Wells before attending Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado, where he received his Associate of Science degree. From La Junta, the Williams moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma, where Bob enrolled in the College of Pharmacy. He graduated as a registered pharmacist in 1970 from Southwestern State College.
From college in Weatherford, Bob moved to Burnet, Texas, and worked as a pharmacist for several years. The family moved to Marble Falls, Texas, where he owned and operated Williams Pharmacy for many years. While living in Marble Falls, Bob was president of the chamber of commerce and served as president of the Rotary Club.
On July 3, 1981, Bob was the victim of an automobile accident that left him a quadriplegic. He did several months of rehab in Houston at the Texas Institute of Research and Rehabilitation and amazed family and friends alike by returning to his profession of pharmacy. He had been told on many occasions that this would not be possible.
Bob worked as director of pharmacy at Sheppard Memorial Hospital in Burnet from about 1985 to 1997 and then as a staff pharmacist at the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center in Eagle Pass, Texas, from 1997 until his retirement in 2013. Following his retirement, he and Rita relocated to Georgetown, Texas.
