Burnet cross-country squads finish 2nd, 4th at Pflugerville

PFLUGERVILLE — A hot and humid day did not keep the Burnet High School cross-country teams from competing well at the Pflugerville Invitational on Sept. 12.

The Lady Dawgs finished second out of five teams, while the Bulldogs were fourth out of eight teams.

The top finisher was Drew Kiser, who won the boys varsity division in 16 minutes and 53 seconds followed by Nick Menchaca at 14th and Trevor Turner at 15th. The boys ran a 3.2-mile course.

Kiser dropped 50 seconds from last year’s Pflugerville Invitational performance.

The girls ran two miles and had four runners place in the top 15: Abby Bullock at sixth place in 13:02, Autumn Freasier at seventh place in 13:10, Tara Evers at 14th place in 13:37, and Jordan Boyles at 15th place in 13:45.

All District 25-4A members except Salado competed.

“This gives us a good barometer for where we stack up and what we need to do to get better by the district meet,” head coach Stuart Dixon said.
