OBITUARY: Billy Deon Morrison, 74, of Llano dies Aug. 19, 2014

Billy Deon Morrison, 74, departed this earthly world Aug. 19, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Billy was born Feb. 27, 1940, in Blackfork, Ark., to Cecil and Luie Campbell Morrison.
The family moved to Wellington, Texas, when Billy was still a child. He left at the age of 16 to work in the oil industry in West Texas. Billy married the love of his life, Brenda, in Lovington, N.M., on Aug. 31, 1978.
He had a lifelong passion for fishing, which lured him to the Highland Lakes. On many spring mornings, you could find Billy running his trot lines on Lake Buchanan.
Billy was employed by Llano Independent School District in transportation until his retirement in 2000. He continued as a bus driver until 2003.
Billy was a member of Llano Masonic Lodge #242, where he was a past Worshipful Master. He was a member of Pittsburg Avenue Baptist Church for 29 years.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and daughter Lisa.
Billy’s survivors include his loving wife, Brenda; daughters Stacy Morrison of New Mexico and Ashley Morrison of Lone Grove; sons, Gary Morrison and wife Lammy of Comanche and Jeromy Morrison and wife Casey of Tow; grandchildren Kerry and Jake Morrison, Jordan Miller and Coy Morrison; five step-granddaughters; one step-great-granddaughter; and one step-great-grandson.
A service is 10 a.m. Aug. 23 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone Ave. in Llano, (325) 247-4300, with the Rev. Danny Meegan officiating. A Masonic funeral will follow at Board Branch Cemetery in Lone Grove.
Pallbearers will be Brian Hadsell, Glen Tribble, Joe Simpson, Dennis Hill, Sheldon Wimberley and Lynn Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Llano Masonic Lodge #242.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
