OBITUARY: Jesse Edwin Abernathy, 70, formerly of Burnet, dies July 26, 2014

Jesse Edwin Abernathy, 70, of Port Lavaca, and formerly of Burnet, passed away July 26, 2014. He was born Aug. 19, 1943, in Freer, Texas, to Andrew Preston and Ruby May Barrow Abernathy.

Mr. Abernathy was a retired teacher and a coach, having worked for Burnet High School, Hayes High School in Buda and Rockdale High School.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Abernathy; daughter, Trisha Gallagher; stepsons, Brannon Garza and David Esquivel; brother Chuck Abernathy; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Abernathy.

A celebration of life service is 11 a.m. Aug. 9 at his home at 1265 N. Ocean Drive in Port Lavaca.
