OBITUARY: Michael Wayne Hagar Sr., 68, of Llano dies July 26, 20

Michael Wayne Hagar Sr. passed away July 26, 2014, at the age of 68 in Kanab, Utah, while on vacation with his wife, Karen Hagar. He was born in Pampa, Texas, on Feb. 21, 1946.
He graduated from Hereford High School in 1964 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat “V” for heroism and the Purple Heart. After his Vietnam tours, he was a sentry dog handler. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1970.
Mike married Karen Stumfoll Robertson on Dec. 6, 2003. He retired from Rowan Companies as a barge engineer after 25 years of service in 2008. In retirement, he and Karen enjoyed RVing and genealogy. They were members of the Lone Star Scouts RV Club, and each and every member became a part of their family. Mike also enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren and doing woodworking.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Louis Hagar.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Hagar, and mother, Bettye Hagar, both of Llano. He is also survived by children and grandchildren: Curtis and wife Kannika Hagar with Bo and Tytus of Austin; Michael Jr. and wife Angela Hagar with Jillian, Jayden and Jocelyn of Paradise, Texas; Amanda Shafer with Joshua, Heather and Robert; Julie and husband Donovan Hohmann with Dusty and wife Cassandra, Ethan and Zoë with great-granddaughter, October; Heath and wife Michele Hohmann with Kirby and Dakota; Erika and husband Tyler Hukill with James and Shannyn; Kendrah and husband Robert McDonald with Maegan and Raymond, all of Llano, Texas; David and wife Vickie Spinks with Taylor, Madison and Elena of Kerrville; and sister, Jennifer Bowman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
