Ray Vasquez, 69, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away July 16, 2014. He was born in Bertram, Texas, on March 23, 1945, the son of John Rufus Vasquez Sr. and Julia Montemayor.

Ray enjoyed fishing and working in his yard. He loved listening to his old music and enjoyed his red Mustang.

Ray is survived by his wife, Mercedes Vasquez of Kingsland; daughters, Susan Locke and husband Todd of Atlanta, Roberta Morua and husband Felix of Lampasas; son, Favian Vasquez and wife Stephanie of Mesquite; stepdaughter, Pat Preston and husband George of Kingsland; sisters, Antonia Centeno and husband Manuel, Lupe Chavez and Herlinda Duran and husband Peter, all of Austin; brothers, Eugene Vasquez of Bastrop and Tom Cantu of Austin; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Manuel, Rufus, Julian, Gilbert, Kelly, Bobby, Fred and Mike; and sisters Virginia and Rosa.

A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. July 19 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A funeral service is 3 p.m. July 20 at Our Mother of Sorrow Catholic Church in Burnet. Burial will follow at Strickling Cemetery.
