Harold Lloyd Hartl, 85, of Kingsland died July 15, 2014, surrounded by loved ones.

Born Sept. 1, 1928, in Shreveport, La., Harold attended Louisiana State University and then joined the Marine Corps during the Korean War.

After his military service, he moved to Houston, became the father of three daughters and built an engineering/drafting/graphic arts business, which grew to employ more than 300 people.

The accomplishments in his life of which he was most proud were his daughters and the employment opportunities he gave young people.

In 1975, he married Marilyn Workman, and together they lived out their dream of building a sailboat, taking an early retirement and traveling the world by land and sea. In 1995, they sold their boat and found a new life in the Texas Hill Country.

Surviving him are his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Loyce Gay, Molly Paolozza and Barbie Belew; grandchildren, Chad Vanover, Jennifer Bartley, Angelina, Carmela and Michael Paolozza; five great-grandchildren; and extended family Monica, Jose and Marilyn Arguello.

The family will receive visitors at home 3-5 p.m. July 19. A memorial service is 11 a.m. July 20 at Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, 1153 FM 3347 in Round Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Walnut Creek Church, 6393 Smith West Ranch Road, Round Mountain, TX 78663.
