MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls 7-on-7 varsity football team will play in one another state-qualifying tournament, fresh off the heels of the Mustangs’ best performance of the summer.
Marble Falls will compete in the CES/Sam Brown Scholarship 7-on-7 Tournament hosted by Houston La Marque. The tournament is June 28 at The Houston Amateur Sports Park, 12131 Kirby Drive in Houston.
“Our kids want to try one more time to qualify,” head coach Matt Green said. “We’ll have our work cut out for us.”
The Mustangs are in pool D and will face Willis at 9 a.m., Clear Creek at 10 a.m. and Dawson at 11 a.m. Pool winners advance to the semifinals at 1 p.m. The tournament championship is 2 p.m. Because the tournament is also a fundraiser, a gate fee of $5 per fan will be charged and a parking fee also will be issued.
Marble Falls will be entering the tournament with momentum after going 3-0 at the Austin High League Tournament on June 24.
The Mustangs defeated Austin Crockett, Austin Regents and Austin Akins. Brennen Wooten was back at quarterback. For the past two weeks, Cade Cool was the quarterback.
“He played very well,” Green said. “I was very pleased, very happy.”
