While points were not awarded for race results, people with stop watches recorded the finishes.

“A lot of these kid are very competitive,” Tsunami head coach Martha Montoya said. “We’re trying to improve, we want to know where we are and what we need to work on.”

Marble Falls had 35 participants.

“This was a recreational swim meet,” Montoya said. “It doesn’t mean that it’s not important.”

The Tsunami still has four more meets this season. The next one is the Lago Vista Meet on July 16 followed by the regional meet of the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation in New Braunfels on July 19.

Then the Tsunami will go to the Burnet meet at the YMCA of the Highland Lakes at Galloway-Hammond, 1601 S. Water St. (U.S. 281) on July 26.

The season ends at the TAAF state meet in College Station.

All meets begin at 8 a.m.

Montoya said she is pleased with the progress of her athletes.

“They’re very confident in their swimming,” she said. “In such a short amount of time, they’ve progressed.”

She credits assistant coaches Tyler Gary and Aaron Jones for the development of the swimmers.

“They’ve spent many hours working with the swimmers,” she said. “And it really showed in this meet.”
