OBITUARY: Rodney James Holmes, 52, of Marble Falls dies June 1, 2014

Rodney James “Rusty” Holmes, 52, of Marble Falls went to Heaven to be with the Lord on June 1, 2014. Rusty was born in Austin on Feb. 7, 1962, to proud parents, Albert Holmes and Faye Harris Holmes.
Albert Holmes was a hardworking delivery driver for Lone Star Beer Co. in Austin for more than 30 years and Faye Holmes was a homemaker.
After high school, Rusty spent two years in San Diego, Calif., where he was stationed in the U.S. Marine Corps. He then followed in his father’s footsteps and went into the transportation business. He began his career as a delivery driver for Lone Star and was experienced in all aspects of the transportation business including as a truck driver, owner and operator. He delivered various materials ranging from oil and gas to rock and heavy equipment.
He loved watching football games. Some of his favorite teams included the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Longhorns and the Marble Falls Mustangs. He also enjoyed playing golf with his father and watching NASCAR races with his mother. But, most of all, he loved spending time with his two daughters, of whom he was very proud.
He is survived by his daughters, Laura Holmes and Leisha Holmes, both of Marble Falls; former wife, Connie Holmes of Marble Falls; stepchildren, Angie Floyd Vaughn, Melissa Griswold and Toby Floyd, all of Marble Falls; grandchildren, Baylee Wier and Britton Williamson, both of Marble Falls, and Bella and Blaire Stewart, both of Austin; cousins Randall Harris and Richard Harris, both of Waco; and numerous other loved ones.
A memorial service is 11 a.m. June 7 at the First Assembly of God Church in Marble Falls.
