LLANO — In the Republican primary runoff elections for two justice of the peace on May 27, one resulted in a tie vote, while the second ended in defeat by 13 percentage points, according to preliminary numbers from the Llano County elections administrator.

In the Precinct 2 justice of the peace race for the party nomination, figures showed the race between incumbent Linda Ballard and challenger Steve Lange has resulted in a virtual tie, 371-371.

A recount is likely, and verified provisional ballots could become part of the recount results, according to state elections procedures.

In a a second runoff between Beatrice “Bebe” Piatt and Lyn Jenkins in the race for the Precinct 1 justice of the peace nomination, Piatt edged out Jenkins by a vote of 498-387.
