MARBLE FALLS — Downtown Marble Falls restaurant Houston’s Depot is open again after an early morning electrical fire March 25 forced it to close for more than a month.

Although owner Allan Oppenheim said the structural damage was contained to “about a 4-foot-by-4-foot area,” other factors kept the downtown Marble Falls restaurant closed.

“The smoke was picked up by the (air-conditioning) units and dispersed throughout the restaurant,” Oppenheim said. “That’s where the damage really was.”

Since re-opening May 3, Oppenheim said the place is “almost like a brand-new restaurant.”

“We’ve had quite a response since we’ve opened back up,” he said. “We found out how much we were missed.”

Allan and wife, Kim, re-opened Houston’s Depot at the new location, 307 Main St. in Old Oak Square, in October 2012. The previous restaurant was open from 1995 to 2009 on U.S. 281 North.

Oppenheim said Houston’s Depot will pick back up with their same business hours and menu.

The restaurant is open 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.
